Fairview PTA Committees
AUCTION COMMITTEE SIGN UP HERE
The Auction committee plans and creates the Fairview auction baskets for the annual Schaumburg Township Council auction in March. Time commitment: FLEXIBLE. Days, evenings, weekends in Nov-Jan.
Tasks include:
- Securing donations and gift cards for five baskets
- Securing other items for donation at the auction
- Creating the gift baskets
BIRTHDAY BOOKS COMMITTEE SIGN UP HERE
The Birthday Books committee ensures that all Fairview Elementary School students receive a free book for their birthdays courtesy of the Fairview Elementary PTA. Time commitment: FLEXIBLE. Days, evenings, weekends throughout the school year.
Tasks include:
- Purchasing books and maintaining book inventory
- Sending reminders to teachers/library staff about upcoming student birthdays
BOO-HOO BRUNCH COMMITTEE
The Boo-Hoo Brunch committee helps welcome our newest Fairview students and families to school at the start of the academic year. Following Kindergarten drop-off on the first day of school, parents are invited to stop by and meet other parents, learn more about Fairview School and the PTA. Time commitment: Planning in summer; 1st Day of Kindergarten.
Tasks include:
- Promoting and advertising event
- Purchasing supplies (snacks, beverages, decorations, materials for activities)
- Coordinating volunteers or serving as a helper at the Boo-Hoo Brunch
BOOK FAIR COMMITTEE SIGN UP HERE
The Book Fair committee helps provide our students with the opportunity to purchase books at the school three times during the school year with our partner, Scholastic Books. Time commitment: School days throughout the school year.
Tasks include:
- Distributing order forms and reminders
- Coordinating Book Fair activities with Scholastic
- Coordinating classroom shopping hours with teachers and the main office
- Coordinating volunteers or serving as a helper on Book Fair Day
CLASSROOM PARTIES COMMITTEE (Also known as ROOM REPRESENTATIVES)
The Room Representatives committee collects all the fees for PTA classroom parties and coordinates all of the activities for our Classroom Helpers. These are our parent volunteers that make sure our PTA classroom parties and events are a success. Time commitment: School days throughout the school year.
Tasks include:
- Identifying and assigning classroom helpers for all classrooms
- Providing guidance about party expectations or classroom party policies to helpers
- Providing general oversight over all classroom helpers on classroom party days.
Donuts with Grownups Committee SIGN UP HERE
The Donuts with Grown ups committee plans is a one-day event in April or May where students can come to school early and enjoy breakfast with Parents, Grandparent, Sibling, or other important person. Time commitment: Planning in April-May; May morning before school.
Tasks include:
- Promoting and advertising the event
- Purchasing food and supplies
- Coordinating volunteers or serving as a helper for the event
FALL FEST COMMITTEE SIGN UP HERE
The Fall Fest Committee plans the fun Halloween Event After school, in Early October, Families are allowed to do Trunk or Treat and Decorate there cars, Organize a Food Vendor, Possibly a DJ, Etc. Time Commitment: FLEXIBLE Days, Evenings, Weekends throughout the school year, evening events.
Tasks include:
- Promoting and advertising event
- Selecting/coordinating food vendors, purchasing supplies (snacks, beverages, decorations, materials for activities)
- Coordinating volunteers or serving as a helper at the events
FAMILY NIGHT COMMITTEE SIGN UP HERE
The Family Night committee plans the fun annual family dance held in February and any other events that bring families together for fun and festivities. Time commitment: FLEXIBLE. Days, evenings, weekends throughout the school year; evening events.
Tasks include:
- Picking event themes and activities
- Promoting and advertising event
- Selecting/coordinating food vendors, purchasing supplies (snacks, beverages, decorations, materials for activities)
- Coordinating volunteers or serving as a helper at the events
HOLIDAY SHOP COMMITTEE SIGN UP HERE
The Holiday Shop committee helps give our Fairview students the opportunity to buy presents for family and friends right at the school in December. Time commitment: Planning in Oct-Dec; School days in December.
Tasks include:
- Distributing information, order forms and reminders
- Coordinating Holiday Shop activities with our vendor
- Coordinating classroom shopping hours with teachers and the main office
- Coordinating volunteers or serving as a helper on the Holiday Shop days
HOT LUNCH WEDNESDAY COMMITTEE Volunteer to distribute hot lunches Wed. 11:15-12:15
The Hot Lunch committee is in charge of making sure our students get delicious hot lunches from local area restaurants! Time commitment: School days throughout the school year.
Tasks include:
- Selecting/coordinating with food vendors
- Entering/reviewing student orders
- Distributing the meals to the students on Hot Lunch days.
MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE SIGN UP HERE
The Membership committee helps the Fairview Elementary PTA share information about our PTA and sign-up new members. Time commitment: FLEXIBLE. Days, evenings, weekends throughout the school year.
Tasks include:
- Providing information to parents at the PTA table at school events throughout the year
- Signing up families for PTA membership
- Entering/reviewing membership order forms
- Assisting with the annual school directory
- Coordinating monthly payments to the Illinois PTA
PASTRIES WITH PARENT COMMITTEE SIGN UP HERE
This is a one-day event in September where students can come to school early and enjoy Pastries with Parent. It is staffed and organized by the PTA. Time commitment: Planning in Aug-Sept; Sept morning before school.
Tasks include:
- Promoting and advertising the event
- Purchasing food and supplies
- Planning support or volunteer help as needed
PIZZA FRIDAY COMMITTEE Volunteer to distribute pizza Fridays 11:15am-12:15pm
The Pizza Friday committee is in charge of making sure our students get delicious pizza slices during the week! Time commitment: School days throughout the school year.
Tasks include:
- Selecting/coordinating with food vendors
- Entering/reviewing student orders
- Distributing the pizza to the students on pizza days.
READING RECOGNITION COMMITTEE SIGN UP HERE
The Reading Recognition committee is in charge of making sure our students are motivated to read and rewarded for their efforts. Time commitment: FLEXIBLE. Days, evenings, weekends throughout the school year; Events during school days and on weekends.
Tasks include:
- Selecting/coordinating with local businesses and restaurants providing reading rewards
- Distributing and collecting monthly reading logs
- Entering reward recipients into a database
- Distributing reading rewards to students
- Planning Reading Recognition parties held throughout the year
- Coordinating volunteers or serving as a helper at the Reading Recognition parties
REFLECTIONS COMMITTEE SIGN UP HERE
The Reflections committee coordinates all of the activities for the Reflections Arts Program, which encourages artistic creativity among our students by asking them to create works of art based on an assigned theme. Most of the work is completed by mid-October. Time commitment: FLEXIBLE. Days, evenings, weekends in Aug-Oct.
Tasks include:
- Promoting and advertising the Reflections program
- Distributing information forms and reminders to students
- Organizing all of the student art projects and delivering them to the Schaumburg Township Council of PTAs
SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE SIGN UP HERE
The Scholarship committee assists with the Schaumburg Township Council of PTAs summer scholarship program. As part of its commitment to life-long learning, the STC offers scholarships for summer programs and camps to District 54 students currently in kindergarten through seventh grade who wish to broaden their education, talents and experiences. Time commitment: FLEXIBLE. Days, evenings, weekends in Jan-April.
Tasks include:
- Promoting and advertising the Scholarship program
- Distributing and collecting scholarship applications
- Sending completed application packages on to the STC
SCHOOL PICTURE DAY COMMITTEE SIGN UP HERE
The School Picture Day committee makes sure that the school is prepared to host picture day with our partner, Lifetouch Photography. You’ll work with the main office to schedule the picture days and the actual picture day classroom schedule. Time commitment: School days in September & October.
Tasks include:
- Distributing order forms and reminders
- Coordinating Picture Day activities with Lifetouch
- Coordinating volunteers on Picture Day
- Collecting students from the classrooms and lining them up for pictures on Picture Day
- Ensuring students look camera ready.
6th GRADE SEND-OFF COMMITTEE SIGN UP HERE
The Send-Off committee plans and organizes our farewell activities for our outgoing 6th graders. You’ll work with the main office and teachers to plan the event. Time commitment: FLEXIBLE. Days, evenings, weekends throughout the school year; Event night.
Tasks include:
- Creating the student Memory Book
- Creating an event Picture Slideshow
- Creating a program booklet, certificates and other materials for the event night
- Purchasing and providing refreshments; purchasing and hanging decorations
SPIRIT WEAR COMMITTEE SIGN UP HERE
The Spirit Wear committee keeps students, parents and Fairview staff in all the latest Fairview Falcons styles. Time commitment: FLEXIBLE. Days, evenings, weekends throughout the school year.
Tasks include:
- Selecting/coordinating with t-shirt vendors
- Entering/reviewing student orders
- Distributing t-shirts to the classrooms for students.
STAFF APPRECIATION COMMITTEE SIGN UP HERE
The Staff Appreciation committee plans activities, gifts and other perks for our teachers as a thank you for all their hard work throughout the year. Time commitment: School days throughout the school year.
Tasks include:
- Selecting/coordinating with local businesses and restaurants providing meals or gifts
- Scheduling and organizing appreciation days or activities
- Coordinating volunteers or serving as a helper during appreciation days, activities or events.
YEARBOOK COMMITTEE SIGN UP HERE
The Yearbook committee is responsible for making sure our Fairview memories are recorded and shared in the annual yearbook. Time commitment: FLEXIBLE. Days, evenings, weekends throughout the school year.
Tasks include:
- Taking tons of pictures of Fairview students and events
- Distributing order forms and reminders
- Entering/reviewing student orders
- Creating the annual yearbook
- Distributing the yearbook to classrooms for students at the end of the year; holding a post-sales event
